The old hymn calls Beulah Land a place of rest, and there is something of that in a Sherman yard on a still October morning, when pecans tap down onto the walk and the air finally sheds its summer weight. Beulah-Land Exteriors tends the outside of the home here: the lawn, the edges, the green front face a house turns toward the street. Around the brick halls of Austin College and the shaded blocks near downtown, Sherman wears its big trees proudly, and grass mown even beneath them looks as though it was always meant to be there. Afterward the lawn lies level and the walk is clear of clippings, a little Grayson County Beulah Land.
