Organoscapes

About Organoscapes

Spring arrives in Richmond disguised as autumn: in March the live oaks let go of last year's leaves all at once, then dress themselves in new green within a week. Organoscapes meets that turnover on the ground, clearing the drifts from yards and walks and bringing the lawn back with its first careful mowing of the year. A mockingbird usually supervises from the nearest fence post, singing through every pass. Out on the edges of town the native grassland is waking too, and the neighborhood lawns follow its lead. There is a particular pleasure in a yard that greets the warm months clean, even and ready for the long, humid stretch ahead.
