About Alterra Landscape Design

Late January strips Richardson down to its bones: the lawns lie dormant, and the bare limbs of the pecans draw fine dark lines against a pale sky. Alterra Landscape Design reads a property clearly in that light, from the low rooflines of the mid-century ranch houses in Richardson Heights to the angle of the winter sun and the bare patches summer hid. A design begins as a sketch made in the off-season and becomes, by late spring, a garden that seems to have grown up alongside the house. The pleasure is in that fit: plants, paths and beds that suit the home they frame.
