About Texas Edible Landscapes

Pinehurst wears the pines in its very name, and beneath them the warm, humid Southeast Texas climate hands a gardener something generous: two planting seasons each year and winters gentle enough that greens keep coming. Texas Edible Landscapes builds yards meant to be eaten from, landscapes where vegetable beds, herbs and fruiting plants stand in for plain lawn and hedges. Picture a late-summer evening with broad fig leaves by the back steps, peppers still going strong in the heat, and a bed cleared and waiting for the fall planting of lettuce and kale. Through those long warm months an edible garden grows fast, and the harvest lands right on the kitchen table. A pretty yard and a supper garden turn out to be the same patch of pine-country ground.
