P & R Surge

About P & R Surge

In May the sky west of Lubbock can stack a thunderhead taller than anything on the ground, and by suppertime the storm has swept through with hail, rain and a cool green smell left behind. P & R Surge turns out for what the weather leaves: grass shot up overnight, torn leaves scattered over the lawn, branches tangled against the fence. A strong mow brings the yard back to height, trimming squares away the ragged spots, and a sweep clears the walk so the place can breathe again. Something hopeful lives in a lawn set right after the sky has had its say. Surge is a fitting word for that kind of comeback.
