Grounds Keepers

About Grounds Keepers

Sea fog is February's signature on the Gulf Coast, warm air sliding in over cool ground until Houston's downtown towers vanish and the streetlights glow like lanterns. Grounds Keepers starts its lawn care in that gray hush, the trimmer's hum muffled and the yards emerging one at a time from the mist. By nine the fog has lifted off the bayous, and the sun finds lawns edged, beds tidied and walks cleared, as if the weather had done the work itself. The name says it plainly: this is a business that keeps ground in Houston, week after week, in a city that never fully stops growing. There is something steadying about a yard that looks just as it should every time you pull into the drive.
