Griffis Oak Lawn

About Griffis Oak Lawn

Oak Lawn came by its name honestly: big live oaks spreading over Turtle Creek, their roots gripping the pale stone banks while the water slides green and slow beneath the footbridges. On a June morning before the heat sets in, the shade beneath them is the coolest spot in Dallas, and the grass under it is the hardest to keep. Griffis Oak Lawn works under that canopy, where shade and root and turf all have to make peace. That means grass cut to suit dappled light, edges trimmed around the old trunks, and the ground kept tidy beneath trees that drop something nearly every season. The reward is a lawn that looks as though it has always belonged under its oaks.
