Groundworks

About Groundworks

West of Bryan the land falls away toward the Brazos River bottoms, where centuries of floods laid down rich, dark soil. In town the ground is just as eager, heavy with clay that holds water through spring and sets like brick by August. Groundworks starts where its name suggests, at the ground itself, building lawns and landscapes on a footing that suits this soil. The last cool weeks of February, before the post oaks leaf out, are the right moment to get a yard ready for the long summer ahead. The payoff comes months later, when the turf stays thick and the beds hold their shape through the hottest stretch of a Brazos Valley summer.
