Argyle grew up in the Cross Timbers, the old band of post oak and blackjack woodland that runs between the prairies, and in early March redbuds flare pink along its horse fences before the oaks have even leafed out. Late in the afternoon the light comes in low over the pastures between Denton and Fort Worth, gilding the manes of grazing horses and the long gravel drives that lead back to the houses. Argyle Landscapes works at the scale those properties ask for, with landscaping and mowing that make room for big trees and wide lots. That can mean beds curved to follow the drip line of an old oak, a winding drive given a neat border, and turf mowed so the land looks open and easy. When spring opens up across Denton County, a property kept like that feels as settled into the Cross Timbers as the oaks themselves.
