Most travelers know Yulee only as the stretch of A1A they cross on the way to the Amelia River bridge, but the town has a slower, older shape once you leave the highway. It carries the name of David Levy Yulee, the senator who ran a railroad from Fernandina across the state, and it still sits in tall slash-pine country where morning fog lifts off the tidal marsh and Lofton Creek. Techmen Land Management looks after the ground in between: lawns and the wider land around them, where pine straw, palmetto and grass all compete for the same patch of sun. The work is lawn care and land upkeep, done so a property shows its shape from the road. When the haze burns off and the marsh grass turns gold, a mowed stretch beneath those pines is a fine thing to see.
