Plant This!

About Plant This!

In Sanford, home of the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, August afternoons build to a crescendo: towering clouds, a sudden roar of rain, then sunlight pouring back through air as thick as warm tea. Plant This! thrives in that lush, exuberant season, when everything green in Seminole County seems to grow at once and every yard turns half jungle by Friday. The task is making all that abundance look intentional, with lawns mowed before they get away, edges reclaimed where runners creep over the walk, flowerbeds cleared of volunteers, and shrubs pulled back into shape. A summer yard's before and after holds its own joy, an untamed tangle turned crisp and orderly. Stand on the sidewalk afterward, with the pavement still steaming from the last shower, and the lawn practically glows.
