Sodzilla

About Sodzilla

Sodzilla is a name that makes people grin, but in Pinellas Park the work behind it is about grass, not mayhem — lawn care and fresh sod for yards that need to come back green. Summer is when sod takes hold most readily here, as the daily downpours of July and August soak new rolls and drive roots down into the sandy ground. A bare or patchy yard can be laid, watered and knitting together within weeks, the seams between pieces fading until it reads as one unbroken carpet. Under a towering August storm cloud, a newly laid lawn in this town looks less like a patch job than like the yard finally caught up with itself. Monsters, it turns out, can be gentle with a yard.
