Tending to HIS Garden

About Tending to HIS Garden

A garden, tended, is a promise kept day by day — and Tending to HIS Garden brings that idea to the lawns and beds of Nokomis. This stretch of the Sarasota County coast lives on salt air drifting in over Casey Key and the Intracoastal, slipping up the shaded streets on either side of the Tamiami Trail. Through the bright, dry winter the grass is kept trim and even, the beds tidied, the edges drawn sharp against walk and drive. When the summer rains return and every green thing leaps skyward, the tending simply carries on, visit after patient visit. Then, as the sunset drums start up at Nokomis Beach and the sun slides into the Gulf, a yard here can look the way a garden is meant to look: kept, cared for, at rest.
