The Gardens of Capri

About The Gardens of Capri

Seven o'clock on a June morning in Hollywood, and the air already hints at the afternoon storm. Out at West Lake the mangroves stand knee-deep in brackish water, as they did long before Joseph Young planned his city in the 1920s, and the neighborhoods inland are dripping and green from yesterday's rain. The Gardens of Capri cares for lawns and gardens in Hollywood, the cutting, trimming and shaping that keeps a yard from turning to jungle in the wet season. These are the months when South Florida growth shows no restraint, and a garden kept in hand feels like a small, cool kingdom: grass even, hedges squared, flowers given room to breathe. When the downpour passes and the sun breaks through, a yard tended like this fairly glitters.
