Fort Myers is about as flat as a city gets, so the closest thing to a summit is the crest of the Edison Bridge, where the Caloosahatchee opens wide and silver beneath you. From up there the town reads as a green quilt of rooftops, palms and lawns running back from the river. Pinnacle Landscapes works at the ground level of that view, doing the planting, pruning and mowing that make each patch of the quilt look finished. Shrubs shaped, beds refreshed, grass cut in clean passes — it is the repeated, unglamorous work that adds up to a neighborhood people slow down to admire. Late in the day, when the river light reaches back across the yards, all that effort catches the gold.
