Walnut keeps a country streak: horse trails wind through its hills, riders still use the bridle paths, and from the slopes around Mt. SAC the San Gabriel Valley spreads out in a blue haze. Premierwest Landscape does landscaping and lawn care in this hillside city cradled between the San Jose Hills and the Puente Hills. In spring the slopes run green after the rains and fade toward tawny by early summer, and yards here are a careful balance of grade, shade and sun. A freshly edged lawn on one of Walnut's curving streets, with the ridgeline going gold above it, is a picture of why people come here for room to breathe.
