Late winter in Sonoma lights the vineyard rows with wild mustard, a yellow so bright it seems to hum between the bare vines, while the Mayacamas hold a morning cloud along their crest to the east. PDM Landscape works in the yards of this old town, where the tree-shaded Plaza and the adobe walls of Mission San Francisco Solano anchor the streets around them. As the rains taper, Sonoma lawns begin their spring push, and that first round of mowing, edging and clearing out winter debris sets the tone for the year. The goal is a cut as unhurried and grounded as the town — even, plain-spoken, cleanly bordered. By the time the mustard fades and the vines leaf out, the yard is already in step with the Valley of the Moon.
