At sunset the Oceanside Pier stretches its long wooden arm into the Pacific, and the last surfers paddle out for one more set, dark shapes on gold water. Allen Landscape's lawn work belongs to a city that runs from that beach inland along the San Luis Rey River, past the white walls of the old mission, into the rolling hills of the east side. The ocean sets the pace: cool gray mornings in early summer, bright mild afternoons, and just enough winter rain to wake the grass back up. Cut and edged on a regular round, a yard here stays as relaxed and open as the coast itself. Walk out once the work is finished and the lawn lies smooth, the borders run neat, and the salt breeze off the harbor moves through grass that looks freshly brushed.
