About Contexto Landscape Design

Grand Avenue runs straight downhill to the Pacific in Grover Beach, ending at the sand where the dunes begin and the sea fog drifts ashore most summer mornings. Contexto Landscape Design carries a name that points to context, and on this stretch of coast context is everything: sandy soil, salt wind, cool gray light. Gardens here are planned to sit right against cypress and open sky, then kept mowed and pruned between the fog and the sun. In winter the monarchs cluster in the eucalyptus groves just up the shore, and the low sun gives every planting a long copper shadow. A yard designed for its place reads as though the coast had arranged it.
