About Timberline Services Inc

South of town, Inyan Kara Mountain holds its own stand of timber above the surrounding grassland, a lone forested peak visible from a good part of Crook County, and Timberline Services Inc keeps a handful of driveways clear on the ranches that ring its base. The tree line on that mountain marks a sharp edge between open range and forest, and a ranch lane crossing that seam can carry packed, shaded snow on one half and wind-scoured bare ground on the other within the same quarter mile. The plow works from the open side in, matching its cleared edge to the tree line's own ragged shape before pushing on toward the next gate. Closer to Sundance, the same crew handles flatter in-town driveways where the mountain's influence has faded into ordinary streets. It's work that follows one particular edge of the landscape, on ranches gathered around a peak most of Crook County can see from somewhere on their own place.
