About Big Horn Excavating

South of the main range, where the Bighorn Mountains taper down toward the Nowood River valley and red rock bluffs start showing through the snow, Big Horn Excavating runs its plow trucks on ground that's more canyon than town. The ranch roads out here twist along the river bottom before climbing toward homesteads tucked under those bluffs, and a heavy machine is often the only thing that can push through what an overnight storm drops across a low crossing. A yard at the base of a canyon gets cleared first, snow piled high enough on either side that the next storm has somewhere to go besides the driveway. From up on one of those bluffs, the whole valley shows white against red rock, the southern Bighorns still holding their own snow far above. It's quiet, remote work at this end of Big Horn County, and Big Horn Excavating keeps its handful of access roads and yards open through whatever the canyon winter sends down.
