Some mornings along the Green River outside Pinedale, the cold air sits low enough to fog the water even as snow covers the banks, and that's when The Big Wood Company is often out, clearing driveways that back up against the timberline of the Bridger-Teton. Properties out here sit close enough to the forest that snow falls heavier and holds longer under the lodgepole shade, so a plowed drive can still be flanked by drifts the sun never quite reaches. The crew stacks snow off to the sides where it won't slump back across a fresh pass, working carefully around the big trunks and root flare at the tree line. A driveway carved clean between the timber, a dark ribbon against all that white, is the kind of result that's hard to walk away from without a second look.
