Choice Lawn & Snow

About Choice Lawn & Snow

The snow leaves Mills reluctantly, hanging on along the north sides of things weeks after the south sides have gone brown. Choice Lawn & Snow opens its lawn season in that thaw, when the flats turn from straw to green almost overnight and every yard in town wants its first cut at once. Casper Mountain still carries white on its shoulder while the mowers are already running below. The work is plain and steady — grass brought back to a single level cut, edges trimmed along walks and drives, the matted litter of winter raked out from under the shrubs. A yard that was gray and flattened in March reads clean by the middle of May, and that turn is the whole pleasure of it.
