First Choice Maintenance

About First Choice Maintenance

West of Kemmerer the land climbs into the pale bluffs and badlands that hold Fossil Butte, and the same wind that has scoured those hills bare for a few million years is just as willing to scour a freshly plowed driveway back to ice by afternoon. First Choice Maintenance works the residential streets on the benches above town, where snow rarely just falls, it gets delivered at an angle, and a single pass of the blade rarely counts as finished. Winter light out here comes in low and hard off the badlands most of the day, throwing long shadows across a lot that was plowed white only an hour before. Keeping a driveway on these benches passable through a stretch of wind is closer to an ongoing negotiation than a chore, and the crew comes back as many times as that negotiation takes.
