Schaefer Snow Removal

About Schaefer Snow Removal

The grain elevator by the tracks is still the tallest thing for ten miles around Hillsdale, and out on this stretch of high plains the wind has nothing to slow it down before it reaches a driveway. Schaefer Snow Removal covers a handful of streets and the ranch lanes feeding into them, small enough country that one plow truck can know every gate along the route by name. A ground blizzard out here can erase a driveway that was clear an hour earlier, so the job is less about a single pass than about coming back once the wind changes its mind. When a front finally clears and the light comes in flat and gold across the stubble fields, a freshly plowed lane into town is often the only mark anyone has made on all that white that day.
