Clibbans

About Clibbans

Midsummer up here the twilight goes on and on — nine o'clock and the sagebrush hills still holding light while swallows work the air above the subdivisions. Clibbans mows through those long evenings north of Green River, once the heat has broken and the grass can take a blade without stress. Passes run straight and overlapping, the trimmer squares up fences, hydrants and mailbox posts, and the edging hands the walks back their line. Drive and sidewalk are cleared before the trailer gate goes up. In a place this dry and this wide open, a kept lawn is a small, stubborn kindness.
