There's a rock formation on the edge of downtown Gillette that gave the town its old nickname — the Rockpile — and it still stands watch over streets that turn silver-white after a big system sweeps off the plains. Heart of the West LLC works those streets and the driveways branching off them with the kind of steadiness the name promises: blade down at first light, snow pushed clear before the wind has a chance to redraw it. Cold snaps come on fast and hard out here, and there's real relief in pulling into a driveway that's already been scraped to the gravel, walkway edged clean to the step. It's a small thing, a cleared path in January, but out here it reads like hospitality.
