Evansville sits close along the North Platte River, just east of Casper, in a grid of streets that grew up around the refineries a century back, and Mr. Plow's Maintenance Pros works those same blocks once the snow starts coming off Casper Mountain to the south. Mornings here start cold and still along the cottonwoods by the river, ice fog sometimes hanging low before the plow trucks even start their engines. The crew works driveway to driveway through the older brick-street neighborhoods, then out to the newer streets at the edge of town, clearing walkways and lots along the way. Wind off the plains can undo a morning's work by afternoon, so the trucks often make a second pass before dark. What's left at the end of a storm is a town you can drive and walk through again — river to the west, mountain to the south, streets bare between them.
