By late April the Shoshone is running heavy with snowmelt and the valley turns over all at once — sage greening, the river bottom leafing out, lawns going from brown to alive in about ten days. Proffit's Lawn Care meets that turn with the season's first work: raking out the winter mat, clearing the corners, taking a first cut low enough to set the year straight. After that comes the weekly rhythm all summer, mowing and trimming with the walks edged, and fertilizing and weed control worked in wherever the turf needs the help. Cody yards run small and particular, full of trees and fences and sprinkler heads to work around, and doing it neatly takes attention more than speed. The measure of it is simple: a clean line at the driveway and nothing left on the sidewalk.
