L M Excavation spends its summers moving earth along the benches above the Cody Canal, and in winter the same equipment turns to pushing snow off the same ground — driveways, pads, the gravel aprons in front of half-built foundations. The canal itself freezes down to a trickle by January, a thin dark line through a white bench, and this crew works around it on the properties that back up to the ditch. Snow here rarely falls soft and stays soft; a warm afternoon can glaze it, and a hard night can lock it down again, so timing matters as much as horsepower. The crew runs its heavier equipment on the bigger pads and lots, then finishes tight corners and walkways by hand. What's left is ground you can walk or drive without thinking twice about it.
