Chuck's Lawn Care

About Chuck's Lawn Care

East of Cody the McCullough Peaks run off into pale badlands and wild-horse country, and in midsummer the heat comes up off that ground by ten in the morning. Chuck's Lawn Care works the yards on that side of town, where a green lawn is a small argument against a lot of dry miles. The job is steady and specific — cutting high through the hottest weeks so roots stay shaded, running the trimmer down the fence lines, keeping cheatgrass and thistle from claiming the margins. Clippings get raked off, walks get cleared, and the drive gets its edge back. Late in the day the light goes orange across the basin and the mown stripes show up like corduroy.
