About Top Notch Landscaping

March in Wheeling smells like river and wet stone, and from the Suspension Bridge the yards on both banks look flattened and gray, waiting on somebody. Top Notch Landscaping opens the year there with spring cleanups — winter's litter raked out of the beds, matted grass loosened, the first mowing taken as soon as the ground firms up. Trimming and edging follow, and it is remarkable how quickly a lawn looks alive again once the line along the sidewalk is cut back. Downtown lots are small and awkward, hemmed in by walls and steps, which makes the finish more visible rather than less. Bringing a block from gray to green is the most satisfying week of the whole season.
