Flattop Lawns

About Flattop Lawns

Above Saint Albans the hills come up quick, and the houses take whatever shelf the hillside offers, so the yards sit tipped and terraced and hardly ever square. Flattop Lawns cuts them anyway, usually on spring mornings when the valley is still cool and a mower is the first sound on the street. The name is the ambition: a deck set level, each pass overlapping the last, a finished lawn holding its nap the way a good haircut holds its line. Edges get trimmed where grass meets gravel and stone wall, and nothing is left on the walk to track indoors. On the steep places none of it is easy, which is exactly why a flat, even cut looks so good from the bottom of the drive.
