East River Mountain runs along the edge of town like a long wall, and in the evening its shadow reaches Bluefield well before the sun is anywhere near down. East River Landscapes LLC mows and maintains lawns on both sides of that shade line, from the streets near the state line out through Mercer County. Grass gets cut, edges get defined, and trimmer work finishes everything the deck cannot reach. There is a particular pleasure in the last pass of the day, when the stripes catch whatever light is left on the ridge. Nothing dresses a house up faster than a lawn somebody clearly took time with.
