About AL Strobel's Tree Service and Stump Removal
In Wilson the land rolls south off the interstate in long fields, and a tree here is a landmark — the one at the end of the lane, the one the mailbox stands under. AL Strobel's Tree Service and Stump Removal takes down the oaks and box elders that have outgrown the yards and farmsteads of western St. Croix County, working them apart in sections when there is a shed or a fence line to protect. Trimming is the other half of it: weight lifted off the long limbs, dead wood out of the crown, low branches cleared so a mower or a hay wagon can pass beneath without ducking. A stump left standing makes a finished job look unfinished, so it gets ground down to chips and the ground goes back to grass. What you notice afterward is how open the yard reads from the county road, and how much sky comes back to a farmhouse window.
