Snowman Removal starts its rounds about then and finishes when the last walk is open. Driveways get plowed end to end, steps and landings are shoveled by hand, sidewalks are opened so the mail and the morning both get through, and sand goes down where the ice sets up hardest. Out along the Eau Claire River toward Schofield the wind keeps reloading the drifts, so the route simply gets run again. Clear before the alarm clocks go off is the entire ambition.
