Brush Busters

About Brush Busters

Three in the morning west of Wausau, snow coming sideways off the Nine Mile ridge, and Brush Busters is already turning circles in a driveway that will be bare by breakfast. Plowing, shoveling the walks, working salt into the glaze that hides under the fresh powder — that is the entire job, done in the hours nobody else wants. A cleared drive on a January morning is a small mercy in central Wisconsin, and this crew hands it over while the town is still asleep. When the sun finally comes up over Marathon County, the routes are behind them and the coffee is earned.
