Badgerland Brine

About Badgerland Brine

The work begins before the storm does. When the forecast turns and a northwest wind starts running across open fields toward Century Avenue, Badgerland Brine is out treating pavement so the ice never gets a grip on it in the first place. Then comes the snow itself, and the plowing, and the long dark hours of clearing lots and driveways while the village sleeps underneath it. By the time the first commuters roll south toward Madison, the blacktop is wet and black instead of hard and white. That is the entire point of it: a winter morning that feels ordinary because someone spent the night making it that way.
