That Lawn Mower Guy

About That Lawn Mower Guy

Saturday morning in Watertown has its own sound, and somewhere in it there is always one mower going, working a block at a time while the coffee is still warm on somebody's porch rail. That Lawn Mower Guy is that sound — one person, one machine, moving through yards with mowing, trimming around trees and posts, edging the walks and blowing the drive clean before rolling on. Doing it single-handed means every line on every lawn belongs to the same pair of eyes, and the work looks like it came from one hand because it did. The best part is the walk back to the truck, glancing over your shoulder at a yard that reads even and finished from the street. Then on to the next one, and the town gets a little tidier as the morning goes by.
