Mathews Lawns and Snow

About Mathews Lawns and Snow

Some driveways out around Verona run a quarter mile and end at a house with one light on. Those are the ones that matter most in February, when a Wednesday storm quits at eleven and the wind spends the rest of the night filling everything back in. Mathews Lawns and Snow runs plowing and shoveling for exactly that — lanes cut open, turnarounds widened, walks and steps cleared, salt and sand where the grade wants to throw a car sideways. There is a particular quiet on a rural lane at four in the morning with the blade down and nobody else awake for miles. And a particular relief in finding that lane already open when you finally do wake up.
