About Schönheit Gardens

Out past the school the cattails at Patrick Marsh let go of winter first, all red-wing blackbirds and standing water and that green smell rising, and that is Schönheit Gardens' cue to begin. The name means beauty, and the work is exactly that: lawns mowed and edged, borders trimmed back to a clean line, beds raked open in spring and tucked down again in fall. A yard tended this way changes slowly, week over week, until one evening in June the owner steps outside and notices the whole thing has come right. There is no hurry in any of it, only the patience of doing each pass the way the last one deserved. Lawn care in Sun Prairie, kept at the pace things actually grow.
