Tischer's Tree & Landscape

About Tischer's Tree & Landscape

On a January night near Rome Pond the cold gets glassy, the oaks crack in the wind, and somewhere out on the town roads Tischer's is plowing. Snow removal is winter's version of patience: watch the radar, wait for the band to pass, then clear every driveway on the list before Sullivan wakes. This part of Jefferson County takes its snow in hard little storms that drift across open farmland, and a clean approach by morning is worth a great deal to the person holding the car keys. The work ends where it began, headlights sweeping an empty white field, the route done. Daylight finds nothing but bare pavement and neat banks.
