The Shrub Doctor

About The Shrub Doctor

Every shrub has a shape it is trying to become, and finding it takes patience and a sharp blade. The Shrub Doctor works both halves of the Stevens Point year: through the growing months it is pruning and shaping hedges, mowing, trimming and clearing yards; once the ground locks up it is plowing driveways and opening walks. October along the Green Circle Trail is the hinge of it all — maples going copper above the water, leaves to be gathered up, everybody quietly counting the weeks to the first plowable inch. There is real satisfaction in a hedge that keeps its shape straight through August, and every bit as much in a walk shoveled down to bare concrete before anyone's boots reach it. Same yard, same care, twelve months around.
