Rock On

About Rock On

Standing Rocks rises east of Stevens Point where the glacier set down its boulders in the sand, and half the yards in the county still push up a stone or two every spring. Rock On mows and maintains lawns on that same ground — weekly cutting, trimming around every obstacle in the way, edging along drives and walks. Sandy soil grows grass in fits and starts here, quick after a rain and slow through a dry August, so the route reads the weather rather than the date. Cleanups open the season in spring and close it in the fall. What gets left behind is plain and good: a level cut, a clean border, nothing tracked onto the concrete.
