About Luke’s Lawn Life

Late August, a Friday afternoon, the grid of streets across Stevens Point running long with shade and sprinkler mist. Luke’s Lawn Life is out in it — mowing yard after yard, trimming around swing sets and downspouts, edging the sidewalk line back to where it belongs. Grass at that point in the summer grows in bursts, flat for a week and then ankle-deep after one good rain, so the route flexes to match. Fall brings leaf cleanups; spring brings the first tidy-up that wakes a yard back up. It is ordinary work done attentively, and a whole street of it looks like a neighborhood taking care of itself.
