Yard on par

About Yard on par

Some Shawano mornings the fog lies in the low spots until the sun burns it off the tops of the yards first, and the whole town looks like it is floating. Yard on par mows into that hour — cutting clean lines, trimming the corners, edging the walks until the borders read as sharp as a fairway's. A lawn kept on a steady rotation behaves differently than one cut whenever somebody gets around to it; it thickens, it evens out, it forgives a dry August. Cleanups handle what the mowing cannot — the mat of dead grass in early spring, the drifted leaves in late autumn. The reward is stepping back at the end and watching the stripes run straight to the property line.
