About Waldner Outdoor Services

Snow tends to show up over the northwest ridges around suppertime in Richland Center, and by the time the plates are cleared the road out front has gone missing. Waldner Outdoor Services goes to work in that dark — plowing drives, opening walks, pushing back what a storm has stacked against a garage door. Hillside driveways in this country don't forgive a half-hearted job, so they get pushed wide and pushed clean down to the surface. There is a particular quiet afterward: headlights swinging out onto the road, one drive finished, the snow still coming, the next address waiting. Morning arrives and everybody leaves on time, which is the entire point.
