Spring Green

About Spring Green

March around here is a negotiation: bare patches showing on the south slopes, half a foot still holding in the shade toward Sinsinawa, and a driveway that glazes over the moment the sun goes down. Spring Green takes both ends of it — plowing and clearing snow while there is snow to clear, then mowing, trimming and cleaning up yards once the ground firms underfoot. The bluff country toward Potosi keeps its own schedule, and the work follows that rather than a date on a calendar. There is pride in an open driveway in February and in a straight-cut lawn in June, the same attention pointed at a different tool. Platteville gets both.
