About Landscape Architecture, LLC

February light in this unglaciated country is a particular thing — low, faintly blue where it strikes the limestone outcrops above the coulees, and gone by five o'clock. Landscape Architecture, LLC does its winter work inside that short window and the long dark on either side of it, plowing drives and lots so a property stays usable from the first flake to the last thaw. Around Mount Horeb the ground seldom lies flat; a driveway can bend downhill and hold ice long after the pavement above it has dried, so clearing means reading the grade as much as pushing the pile. Snow gets stacked where meltwater will run away from the door instead of back toward it. When the last drift has been taken off the turnaround and the hillside goes quiet again, the place looks looked-after, which is the point.
