Fog comes off the Wisconsin River early in Mosinee, settles in the low yards, and burns off about the time the mowers start up. Al's Landscaping & Snowplowing runs both seasons out of the same shed — mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups through the green months, then plowing, shoveling and sanding once the river valley locks up. Marathon County snow arrives with weight behind it, and the plan never changes: be through the drives before the town heads out for the day. In summer the measure is an even cut and a clean edge along the walk; in winter it is black pavement by seven in the morning. Mosinee, Kronenwetter and Knowlton are all on the winter list and the summer one alike.
